Chanel launched Coromandel in 2007 in Les Exclusifs, as a tribute to the Chinese lacquer screens that lined Gabrielle Chanel’s apartment. Jacques Polge and Christopher Sheldrake built an intense amber around patchouli, frankincense and benzoin. Victoria, of Bois de Jasmin, finds a dark, gourmand patchouli, elegant right down to its trail.
