CK One

Ck One: Calvin Klein's unisex fragrance Calvin Klein is a house that has always shown profound audacity combined with an almost innate sense of business development strategy. Thus, the launch of CK One came with colossal resources! The success of this campaign exceeded all of the house's expectations and earned it the Grand Prix des Trophées Stratégie du Marketing the following year.

CK One by Calvin Klein appeared in the 1990s and presents itself as a fresh and universal fragrance. Created by perfumer Alberto Morillas, it is a highly avant-garde juice, drawing inspiration from the androgyny typical of that era, and appealing equally to men and women. More specifically, CK One is considered by many to be the first true unisex fragrance in the history of perfumery. The idea was bold: a winning bet, considering that the house sold 15 million bottles the year of its launch! But what about its bottle? Here is a breakdown of its bottle.

CK One by Calvin Klein, a bottle designed like a rum flask

Let us begin by looking at the shape of the CK One bottle. It has a sober, slim silhouette, and no one could assign it a gender. Is it a feminine fragrance? Is it a masculine fragrance? Both visually and olfactorily, CK One by Calvin Klein is a juice that speaks to everyone. The whole moves forward with restraint, fitting just as well in the hand of a woman as a man. More specifically, the silhouette of CK One by Calvin Klein is inspired by a glass flask, or rather a Jamaican rum flask. In this sense, it is a slightly more masculine shape… No matter, it seems that this time, women too are entitled to a share of intoxication!

The unusual cap of CK One

Unlike most fragrances, CK One by Calvin Klein is not immediately topped with a spray cap. Indeed, this unusual bottle is capped with a screw cap. This closure resembles that of a simple water bottle. In a matte gray color, this cap gives the whole a modern touch. It allows the fragrance to be applied with the fingertips, as was once done. Nevertheless, this cap can be unscrewed and replaced with a spray nozzle, designed by Calvin Klein and provided with this fragrance. From then on, it becomes possible to apply the fragrance in a more conventional way, spraying a few centimeters from the skin.

Purity, a major element of CK One

If there were only one dominant element to this bottle, it would undeniably be its purity. Here, no superfluous detail has a place. The whole is devoid of any flashy color. Its transparent glass is slightly frosted, which gives it an almost icy quality. The name of this fragrance, meanwhile, appears in sober gray lettering on the front, as does the Calvin Klein name.
Finally, note that the whole is housed in an eco-friendly box, made of recycled cardboard. In the strictest respect for the environment, it is even assembled without a single dot of glue. While ecology was not yet at its peak in the 1990s, Calvin Klein was once again showing great forward-thinking.
