Because It's You

Anne Flipo opens Because It’s You with raspberry and neroli. The house likens the opening to a ripe raspberry, joyful and sparkling, whose elegance the neroli brings out. The heart rests on rose absolute, which it calls sophisticated and addictive.

In the base, vanilla joins the musks for a sensuality the house wants to be deep, with patchouli alongside them. Armani presented vanilla as the signature note of both fragrances in the duo, treated here in a powdery, gourmand and fruity way.

At its release, the house spoke of a carefree fruity floral, of a fresh and natural raspberry, and lent the neroli the sunny softness of orange blossom. It also placed a jasmine next to the rose, which its current French page does not name.

The lemon and amberwood often attributed to the fragrance appear neither on the house’s page nor in what it said at the release. Descriptions circulated in the United Kingdom add blackcurrant, a violet leaf note and jasmine sambac, absent from the French lists.

The house extends the fragrance into a shower gel and a body lotion. It recommends starting with these two products and finishing with the perfume, for a trail that lasts longer.

What the label declares

The list published by the house names, after alcohol, fragrance and water, benzyl salicylate, linalool, benzyl alcohol, alpha-isomethyl ionone and hydroxycitronellal. It also includes citronellol, geraniol, hexyl cinnamal, limonene, coumarin, citral and benzyl benzoate.

It further lists methyl anthranilate, a molecule with hints of orange blossom, and methyl heptine carbonate, a green violet-leaf note. Bumetrizole and a stabilizing citrate protect the juice from light, an antioxidant preserves it, and four colorants, violet, orange, yellow and red, tint it.
