Guerlain launched Angélique Noire in 2005 to open its L’Art et la Matière collection. Daniela Andrier sets the green bitterness of angelica against the house’s vanilla, with pink pepper, pear and cedar. Sylvaine Delacourte wanted to give vanilla an opposite. Victoria, of Bois de Jasmin, smells a creamy vanilla; Cécile Clouet speaks of a joyful oxymoron.

In 2005, Angélique Noire was sold in a tall architectural bottle, its name written on the side in a wide golden band, like the spine of a precious book, with an optional bulb atomizer.
With the relaunch of the collection, the fragrance took the L’Art et la Matière bottle, inspired by Guerlain’s 1870 Square Bottle, with an octagonal base. Pochet du Courval, the house’s historic glassmaker, makes it with at least 15% recycled glass.
The bottle can be refilled in a selection of Guerlain boutiques and personalized. The house offers Angélique Noire in 50, 100 and 200 ml.
