Anne Flipo

L'Heure Bleue by Guerlain, Giorgio de Beverly Hills, Féminité du Bois by Shiseido, or Alien by Thierry Mugler… These names are among the most emblematic in the world of perfumery. They are sometimes modern, timeless, erotic or sensual, but above all they are true legends that Anne Flipo particularly admires. This extraordinary creator has numerous fragrant works to her credit, yet admits that these are compositions she would have liked to create herself. Nevertheless, she can console herself by looking back on her exceptional career, marked by numerous successes.

Anne Flipo's unexpected destiny

Today, a good number of perfumers come from the Grasse region and learned this craft through family tradition. Yet this was not the case for Anne Flipo. This renowned perfumer grew up far from Grasse, coming instead from Picardy and its sugar beet plains. Her father ran a sugar refinery there, and it was in this place that she learned to appreciate the smells of sweets. Anne Flipo explains that she had time and space, a gastronomic upbringing which is a form of addiction, and a real connection with nature. She says they were raised amid the smells of a house that lived, the image of happiness, thanks to a mother who awakened their five senses. Moreover, Anne Flipo confides that she has always had a fascination for spring, gardens as they transform, the first flowers of the year and the first fruits. These are all things that spark her creativity. Anne Flipo began her career at Créations Aromatiques, now Symrise, while studying at Charabot. She then joined International Flavors and Fragrances (IFF), an international fragrance manufacturer considered one of the giants of the industry. It is under this same major house that Anne Flipo still works today.

Anne Flipo's signature

Anne Flipo sees every new creation as a genuine challenge. Like the emblematic fragrances that fascinated her early on, she wants each of her perfumes to be memorable. However, she does not typically create overly commercial fragrances and wants each one to be quite distinct. The idea is to make every wearer a unique individual. Each of her compositions has multiple facets, sometimes proving romantic, seductive or characterful. In truth, Anne Flipo uses fragrance as a means of expressing the many facets of her personality. She says she draws her inspiration from childhood memories or from particular events that have marked her life.

Today, the collection of fragrances developed by Anne Flipo is immense and includes numerous successes. Among the most famous, it is worth noting that Anne Flipo is behind Sweet by Lolita Lempicka, Invictus and Lady Million by Paco Rabanne, Manifesto and La Nuit de l'Homme by Yves Saint-Laurent, La Vie est Belle by Lancôme, Jeanne by Lanvin, Soleil by Rochas, and Miss Boucheron by the eponymous house.
