Sweet Like Candy

Sweet Like Candy is Ariana Grande's third perfume, released in 2016 under license from the American company Luxe Brands. The house opens it on a blackberry frosted with sugar, an Italian bergamot and a pear, before a floral accord of sambac jasmine, frangipani and honeysuckle, and a base of blackcurrant cream, marshmallow, cashmere wood and vanilla.

Frosted blackberry, Italian bergamot, pear

The opening holds to three fruits that the house calls sparkling: a blackberry covered in sugar, an Italian bergamot and a pear. Luxe Brands recounts that the singer chose this opening for its mix of candied dark fruit and bright citrus.

Sambac jasmine, frangipani, honeysuckle

The heart gathers three flowers: sambac jasmine, thick and creamy, frangipani, whose scent leans toward almond and vanilla, and honeysuckle that the house wants covered in dew. The whole remains in the background behind the fruits.

Blackcurrant cream, marshmallow, cashmere wood, vanilla

The base carries the gourmand character: a syrupy blackcurrant cream, a cottony marshmallow, a powdery cashmere wood and a vanilla. It is this quartet that the house singles out when it promises a sweet and lingering sillage.

What the label declares

The label declares hydroxycitronellal, a material with a lily-of-the-valley scent that supports the floral accord, geraniol and citronellol, of a rosy character, citral, lemony, and benzyl salicylate, floral and a fixative. Benzyl benzoate, limonene and linalool complete the listed allergens.

Three UV filters, ethylhexyl methoxycinnamate, butyl methoxydibenzoylmethane and ethylhexyl salicylate, protect the juice from light without contributing anything to the scent. Alcohol accounts for four-fifths of the volume, and no colorant appears.
