Born in 1996, Rem is Réminiscence’s second pillar after Le Patchouli. Francis Camail translates the memory of the beaches of Saint-Barthélemy: a marine note carried by calone, lilac and jasmine, a heart of patchouli and fenugreek, and a base of vanilla, tonka bean and white musks. Its name is an anagram of “mer”, French for sea.
What the house declares
Réminiscence classifies Le Rem among floral marine fragrances. In the top, marine notes carried by calone evoke a breath of salty air, softened by lilac and jasmine, like a garden by the water.
The heart pairs patchouli, the house’s signature material, with fenugreek, which according to the house brings warmth and exoticism. In the base, vanilla and tonka bean evoke warm sand and sun-kissed skin; white musks extend the freshness of a swim.
Three tiers
The house itself breaks its fragrance down: marine note, lilac and jasmine in the top; patchouli and fenugreek in the heart; vanilla, tonka bean and white musks in the base. Lili also perceives an amber base, which the house does not name.
The house does not mention rose, but its ingredient list declares a rose flower oil or extract: rose is therefore kept in the heart, with the patchouli.
What the label declares
The list Réminiscence publishes places, after alcohol, fragrance and water, benzyl salicylate, three UV filters, ethylhexyl methoxycinnamate, ethylhexyl salicylate and butyl methoxydibenzoylmethane, and hexamethylindanopyran, a synthetic musk.
It also shows terpineol, geraniol, coumarin, benzyl benzoate, vanillin, benzyl alcohol, patchouli oil (Pogostemon cablin), citronellol, rose oil and anise alcohol. No colorant appears on the list, as the relaunch announced.
