Beyond the official notes
Angela, of Now Smell This, finds that the citrus leans toward neroli rather than tart lime, and that a hint of currant gives the whole its deliciousness without sweetening it. Persolaise, for his part, mostly smells vanilla and dark woods.
What the label declares
The ingredient list published by Chanel names, after alcohol, water and fragrance, limonene, benzyl salicylate and geraniol, and continues with the regulated allergens, including coumarin and hexyl cinnamal.
It also carries an ultraviolet filter and five colorants, two yellows, two reds and a violet, which give the juice its ambery tint.
