Parfum d'Eté

Where to buy
Entirely inspired by the sweet and fragrant childhood memories of the talented Japanese designer, Parfum d'Eté, the second fragrance of the then very young perfume house, would become one of the emblematic great successes of Kenzo fragrances. Green, light as a leaf bathed in the bright and powerful sunlight, floral but neither too heady nor too transparent, Parfum d'Eté offers a summer that never ends! Even after more than twenty years of existence!
Parfum d'Eté, Kenzo Takada's second fragrance, like a childhood memory in a sun-drenched Japan
The very first collection presented by Kenzo Takada in 1983 displayed brilliant originality steeped in the blending of West and East, which seduced as much as it inspired his contemporaries. The Kenzo label created a stylistic language in which the boundaries of languages and peoples, as well as those between dream and reality, no longer applied. Thus, when creating his first fragrance, Kenzo Takada offered a sparkling citrus scent named Kenzo, as sparkling and joyful as his haute couture creations.
To follow up on this great perfumery success, Kenzo Takada chose to represent the season that most reminded him of the Japan of his childhood: summer. We live almost naked, we open up the houses. Light enters everywhere. […] In Japan, we celebrate the cherry tree. A pretty flower with a scent so elusive that it becomes imaginary, Kenzo Takada recounts about Parfum d'Eté.
Between sophistication and simplicity, Jean-Claude Delville and Antoine Lie created a Parfum d'Eté that is floral and light as a cloud of leaves, which for a long time would be presented through the simple, yet so effective, image of a young woman enjoying herself under the scorching sun of a paradisiacal beach. Because deep down, a Parfum d'Eté can be worn in every season and lived naturally and freely!
Parfum d'Eté by Kenzo: a sensual and delicate green floral
At its creation in 1992, the Parfum d'Eté bottle was designed to highlight all the ribs of the lush and generous glass leaf. Over time, the Parfum d'Eté leaf lost its raised ribs but kept its shape, offering fragrance lovers a smooth glass that beautifully reflects the sunlight, the true star of this fragrance. The glass flows according to random, natural and poetic curves, giving each bottle a unique personality, Kenzo states about Parfum d'Eté.
The top notes of Parfum d'Eté unfold in a soft, floral blend of rosewood and hyacinth, enhanced by a pure and luminous green note. Then lily of the valley opens the intense floral heart of this Parfum d'Eté, letting peony, jasmine and hyacinth breathe out in an intoxicating, bucolic ensemble. Finally, sandalwood and white musk wrap this floral and green composition in tenderness, making it an ode to the summer season.
Flowers, greenery, for a light, luminous and sensual fragrance, Kenzo states about Parfum d'Eté.
Parfum d'Eté, a magnificent floral with green accents, is now considered a leading figure of one of the new movements within the green-floral family. It is also worth noting that while Parfum d'Eté was a great success, it inspired a good number of major names in perfumery as well as its own successors within Kenzo, including the brand's essential bestseller, Flower.
