Christian Mathieu

The artistic field is characterized by particularly varied ways of working. Indeed, not all artists craft their works at the same pace. They do not draw their sources of inspiration from the same place. This is precisely what creates the diversity of the results obtained. Whether in the world of literature, film or perfumery, each protagonist is different and each of them builds a career in their own image. Thus, while some perfumers produce numerous creations, others have only one or two great perfumes to their name. Such is the case of Christian Mathieu.

Christian Mathieu and Kenzo pour Homme

Although reducing Christian Mathieu's career to a single perfume may seem simplistic, it must be acknowledged that he is often associated with the same fragrance: the iconic Kenzo pour Homme. This creation is by far the most emblematic of his professional career. Composed in 1991, this Eau de Toilette is the perfect embodiment of the values and origins of the house Kenzo. Evoking spirituality and fullness, Kenzo pour Homme is an invitation to contemplate distant lands and draw inspiration from the other side of the world. To convey such a feeling, Christian Mathieu crafted a marine, woody, iodic and sensual essence. This Eau de Toilette is characteristic of the 1990s. Very pleasant to wear daily, especially in springtime, it offers a subtle blend of clarity and masculinity. Its scent is fairly intense without being heady. Moreover, despite being 25 years old, Kenzo pour Homme remains a perfume that is still relevant today. Christian Mathieu thus seems to possess a gift for creating timeless scents.

Christian Mathieu's other creations

However, beyond this perfume, it should be noted that there was a before and an after Kenzo pour Homme. Christian Mathieu's first major fragrance came to life in 1980 for the house Jacomo. This was the perfume Jacomo pour Homme. Moreover, Christian Mathieu repeated his collaboration with the house on several occasions. In 1987, he signed the composition of Cœur de Parfum, a feminine fragrance. Then, in 1996, he did so again by creating Perle de Silences, another perfume for women. Two years later, in 1998, Christian Mathieu also collaborated with the house Lancôme. He is the creator of the perfume Rouge Maintenant ou Jamais. As can be seen, each of his fragrances shares a highly poetic quality. Christian Mathieu is a creator filled with sensitivity and romanticism. This comes through in each of his perfumes. In this sense, it must be acknowledged that he fits wonderfully with the image of the houses Kenzo and Lancôme. His fragrances evoke a longing for faraway places while constantly standing at the border between dream and reality. So why not immerse yourself in his world, lose your footing and let yourself go toward more enchantment?
