In 2015, Paco Rabanne unveiled Olympéa, the goddess of modern times, but also the counterpart to Invictus, released two years earlier. Mythical, almost divine, the Olympéa woman resembles no one else. Like Invictus, Olympéa is drawn from Greek mythology. Mount Olympus was the highest mountain in Greece. The gods gathered there to talk and meet. The summit of Olympus was entirely hidden by clouds, but above all it was invisible to mortals. This is why the Olympéa woman is almost divine, far surpassing ordinary mortals…
The trio of perfumers chosen by Paco Rabanne
To create the fragrance of modern goddesses, Paco Rabanne called on Anne Flipo, Dominique Ropion and Loc Dong. Anne Flipo is considered a highly intuitive, innovative and talented perfumer. She currently works under the IFF (International Flavors and Fragrances) banner. While each of her fragrances is very different, Anne Flipo is behind numerous successes such as Manifesto by Yves Saint Laurent, Sweet by Lolita Lempicka and La Vie Est Belle by Lancôme. Dominique Ropion is also a perfumer highly sought after by fashion houses. Grounded and inquisitive, Dominique Ropion has taken the time to study every raw material. He too is part of the IFF house and is behind exceptional fragrances such as Lalique Le Parfum by Lalique, Live Irresistible by Givenchy and La Nuit de L'Homme by Yves Saint Laurent. Loc Dong is no less talented. Born in Vietnam, Loc Dong managed to build an extraordinary life for himself. He likes to create simple, complete fragrances. Loc Dong is behind some very fine creations such as Ck One Shock for Him by Calvin Klein and the Paris Rebelle Collection by Yves Saint Laurent.
The duality of salty vanilla and floral notes
The three renowned perfumers envisioned a fragrance of duality, a sensuality marked by an original salty vanilla accord and the freshness of floral notes. Olympéa opens on green mandarin, fresh and tangy. The heart of Olympéa is both floral and aquatic, combining ginger flower and hydroponic jasmine. Ginger gives off a scent that is at once spicy, peppery and rosy. As for hydroponic cultivation, it allows a plant to be grown without soil, so it grows only in water. Here, this technique gives jasmine lighter, more aquatic tonalities than usual. The base is both sensual and delicate, woody and creamy, combining the salty-vanilla accord with patchouli, vanilla, sandalwood and ambergris.
In order to offer Invictus its alter ego, Paco Rabanne envisioned Olympéa, the goddess of modern times. Dazzling and almost mystical, Olympéa displays a distinctive sensuality, created by a trio of highly talented perfumers.
