Ocean di Gioia

Ocean Di Gioia, Giorgio Armani immerses us in the depths of the sea. In 2020, Giorgio Armani decided to take us into a particularly oceanic and maritime universe.

Ocean Di Gioia is a fragrance that completes Giorgio Armani's famous Di Gioia collection, launched in 2010. Like all the fragrances in this collection, it evokes the beauty of nature, and more particularly that of water. Logically, it is therefore presented in a blue bottle, free of anything superfluous. A concentrate of nature and femininity, this fragrance is a tribute to the immensity and many facets of the ocean. Let us look in more detail at the ingredients that make up its formula.

Ocean Di Gioia, an atypical evocation of the sea

Ocean Di Gioia is a fragrance that, as its name suggests, draws inspiration from the depths of the ocean and the immensity of the sea. In reality, it is actually more about the Mediterranean Sea, so dear to Giorgio Armani, a designer of Italian origin. So how did the house go about capturing the maritime scent of this part of the globe? Perfumers usually turn to citrus for freshness, adding a few salty notes to evoke sea spray. Here, however, Ocean Di Gioia is entirely different. It is instead an imaginary evocation of water and all the feelings that arise when observing the immensity of this expanse of water. At times fresh and lively, the sea can also be soothing or more spirited. It is all these multiple personalities that are found in Giorgio Armani's Ocean Di Gioia.

The olfactory pyramid imagined by Giorgio Armani

Ocean Di Gioia opens with very fresh, fruity top notes. Here, Giorgio Armani chose a peach accord. However, like all fruity notes, peach cannot be directly extracted. It is therefore recreated in the laboratory using synthetic molecules. The result is a fruity, velvety scent that pairs wonderfully with other, more floral ingredients.
The femininity of Giorgio Armani's fragrance, meanwhile, becomes more pronounced in its heart. Indeed, more luminous than ever, Ocean Di Gioia is built around jasmine. This flower, widely used in feminine perfumery, is prized by perfumers for the richness of its scent and its many contrasts. In turn, jasmine can appear luminous, warm, sweet, opulent, more animalic or greener. There is no better ingredient than jasmine to evoke the plurality of oceanic personalities.
Finally, the base of Ocean Di Gioia gradually warms up with wood and thus gains in longevity. Indian sandalwood unfolds its waxy, smoky, milky breath here. It immediately becomes more animalic upon contact with musk. Very powerful and endlessly seductive, musk only amplifies the sensual side of this fragrance. Behind its evident freshness, Ocean Di Gioia thus conceals far more complexity than it appears.
