Francis Kurkdjian had already composed My Burberry in 2014, and it is he whom the house Burberry chose once again to create My Burberry Black. A graduate of the highly selective perfumery school in Versailles, ISIPCA, Francis Kurkdjian became known, at just 25 years old, thanks to his first composition, and no small one at that: Le Mâle by Jean-Paul Gaultier. Slender and elegant in bearing, Francis Kurkdjian is one of the most sought-after perfumers. He simply states that his profession is to bring pleasure to people. He describes himself as demanding, proud and combative. When he imagines a fragrance, he likes to tell a story and play with raw materials. In 2001, he was honored for his entire career with the François Coty prize. In 2008, he was also honored as best perfumer. In 2009, Francis Kurkdjian founded his own brand, Maison Kurkdjian, and has no intention of stopping there. Francis Kurkdjian is behind such major successes as Le Parfum Rose Couture by Élie Saab, L'Extase by Nina Ricci and Kenzo World by Kenzo.

Francis Kurkdjian's composition aims to be bold and contemporary. It opens with jasmine flower, and the fragrance's radiance takes hold right from the top notes. Jasmine is one of the most sought-after flowers in perfumery, after rose. Nearly every major house has, at some point, chosen to showcase jasmine. Grown mainly in Egypt and India, sambac jasmine is also found in Grasse, a paradise for perfumers. Jasmine gives off opulent, floral tonalities, but also green and powdery ones. Here, jasmine is joined in the heart by rose, and softened by the creamy smoothness of peach, which also lends an unexpected sweet touch. The base of My Burberry Black develops into an entrancing and sensual sillage thanks to amber patchouli. Minimalist and elegant, the bottle echoes the iconic British trench coat.
