Honey is a women’s Eau de Parfum launched by Marc Jacobs in July 2013, following in the footsteps of Dot. Annie Buzantian, a perfumer at Firmenich, pairs pear and mandarin with a heart of orange blossom, peach, apricot and honeysuckle; honey, vanilla and woods form the base. Its round bottle takes up Dot’s design in yellow and gold.
Gaia (The Non-Blonde) finds only a tame fruity floral, closer to a shampoo than a luxury fragrance, in which the honey stays vague and honeysuckle dominates the base.
What critics say
The Non-Blonde: honey nowhere to be found
On February 24, 2014, Gaia describes a vaguely fresh fruity floral, closer to a shampoo or a detergent than to a luxury fragrance. She smells a pear and a peach of reconstituted fruit juice, a plastic honeysuckle and a chemical orange blossom.
She finds none of the animalic, waxy honey she loves, and believes that the bee bottle, an extension of Dot’s ladybug, gave the fragrance its theme rather than the other way around. In the base, an insistent honeysuckle dominates what she calls a flat department-store accord.
