Luna Rossa Ocean

Luna Rossa Ocean, the new men's fragrance from Prada. A true emblem of the Prada house, the Luna Rossa fragrance first appeared in 2012, drawing inspiration from the values of top-level sailing. Indeed, this fragrance for men takes its name from one of the most famous racing boats on the planet.

Released in 2021, Luna Rossa Ocean is a flanker of the emblematic Luna Rossa, a cult fragrance from the house, born much earlier, in 2012. Inspired by the brand's cult catamaran, competing in the America's Cup, this fragrance is a symbol of self-transcendence, of athletic and intellectual strength, and of technological achievement. For the occasion, Prada decided to reinvent its cult lavender scent, turning it into a highly contrasted fragrance. As for the bottle, Luna Rossa Ocean by Prada comes in a new midnight blue color, as elegant as it is symbolic. Here is our review of this new fragrance.

Luna Rossa Ocean by Prada, an array of luxurious ingredients

Let us begin with the central element of this composition: its formula, strictly speaking. Luna Rossa Ocean by Prada owes its existence to two perfumers ranking among the greatest noses on the planet: Carlos Benaïm and Anne Flipo. Here, they chose to transform its emblematic fougère scent, turning it into a woodier, more contrasted fragrance. Thus, the freshness of bergamot clashes with spices. The collection's emblematic lavender becomes powdery. Patchouli and vetiver reinforce the fragrance's virile character, while being paired with a touch of musk. To create Luna Rossa Ocean, Prada took the utmost care in selecting the finest varieties of available raw materials. Furthermore, Luna Rossa Ocean by Prada contains a few ingredients specifically reserved for fine perfumery, ranking among the most expensive in the perfumer's entire palette. Iris and saffron are true gems, instantly immersing the wearer in a subtle and luxurious world.

An aesthetic evocation of the ocean depths

In terms of aesthetics, Luna Rossa Ocean by Prada preserves the design of its predecessors. The shape of its bottle remains largely the same as before, combining glass and metal for a highly elegant result. Of course, this choice is not incidental and references the technology and beauty of racing boats. Likewise, Prada's emblematic red band, a symbol of technological achievement, still appears on its bottle. However, it now comes in a brand-new blue-tinted color. Here, the aim is to evoke the depths of the ocean with a single glance.

Luna Rossa Ocean by Prada features a stellar cast

Finally, Prada also spared no expense when it came to casting. To embody Luna Rossa Ocean, the brand called on one of the most talented Hollywood actors: Jake Gyllenhaal. He is captured here by director Johan Renck, widely known for the series Chernobyl, Vikings and Breaking Bad. Likewise, the actor was also photographed by a true expert in his field: Solve Sundsbo, famous for his sharp, experimental techniques.

Combining physical and intellectual strength, Jake is a modern adventurer: the perfect representation of Prada's new men's fragrance. His unique acting pushes the boundaries of emotion, and the visionary projects he produces reveal bold new ways of telling stories, comments Yann Andrea, General Manager of Prada Beauty International.
