Loverdose

Diesel launched Loverdose in 2011, composed by Olivier Cresp and Honorine Blanc. The house presents it as a love potion, an oriental on a woody base: lemon and mandarin on top, licorice, star anise, jasmine and gardenia in the heart, vanilla, ambroxan, cedar and sandalwood in the base. Its bottle, a faceted mauve-tinted heart, is pierced by a black dagger.

The house describes an oriental on a woody base. Lemon and mandarin open on a sweet, tangy touch, which jasmine and gardenia extend with a floral, feminine impression.

A licorice heart

Licorice and star anise bring an almost minty freshness to the bouquet. Osmoz speaks of a very licorice heart, where star anise and jasmine can be sensed behind the dark note.

An ambery, woody base

The base brings together ambroxan, vanilla, cedar and sandalwood, which the house calls warm and gourmand, with a sensual character it describes as almost animalic.

Current product sheets

Recent commercial descriptions classify it among vanilla orientals, place star anise on top with mandarin, and sum up the base as amber, vanilla and woody notes. The notes retained here follow the composition declared at launch.

What stays out

The cherry, strawberry, orange blossom and vanillin of older descriptions belong to none of the house’s statements. Thomas Dunckley perceives candied berries in the opening: that is his perception, not a declared material.
