Perfumer Jean-Michel Duriez at the helm of Lacoste Live
For Jean-Michel Duriez, born in Amiens in 1961, perfume is the story of his life. In the family garden, he concocted his first olfactory pairing, from a blend of mint and rose petals. He studied at the prestigious perfumery school, ISIPCA, and it was in 1986 that Jean-Michel Duriez officially became a nose. He worked for Jean Patou perfumes until 2011. At the same time, Jean-Michel Duriez created fragrances for the house of Rochas. In 2016, to celebrate his 30 years of experience, Jean-Michel Duriez founded his own perfume collection where he creates what he calls author perfumes. Jean-Michel Duriez is behind beautiful fragrances such as Rochas's L'Eau de Rochas and Secret de Rochas, Jean Patou's 2000 en Patou, and his own house's L'Étoile et le Papillon.
Live Lacoste, a multifaceted essence
Aromatic and spicy, “Live Lacoste” is a multifaceted nectar, in the image of a man always on the move. “Live Lacoste” opens with bright, creative notes, namely limetta, paired with the aromatic tones of lavender, all sprayed with dihydromyrcenol. Originally from Persia, lavender was used by the Romans and Egyptians to scent baths. It was only from the 16th century onward that lavender began to be distilled in Provence. It heals wounds and serves as a vermifuge. In the 18th century, lavender was used as a remedy against the plague. The city of Grasse played a significant role in lavender cultivation, which reached its peak between 1900 and 1950. In perfumery, lavender essence is obtained by steam distillation of freshly cut flowers. Lavender releases tones that are floral, herbaceous, aromatic and camphoraceous all at once. Then, the heart of “Live Lacoste” develops toward green, aquatic notes, slightly heightened by black pepper, giving the composition its character. Ambery and sensual, the base is composed of guaiac wood, amber woods and clove for maximum boldness and originality. Originally from South America, guaiac wood can grow up to 20 m tall! It has numerous medicinal properties. Guaiac essence is obtained by steam distillation of wood chips and sawdust. In perfumery, guaiac wood releases woody, balsamic and smoky tones. Finally, the bottle is ultra-modern and highly original, much like its composition. Cube-shaped, it features clean lines and different faces, offering an ultimate touch of renewal.
