Michel Girard is l'Homme Lacoste Intense
Born in Paris, Michel Girard joined Givaudan in 1998 and is still employed there as a perfumer-creator. While Michel Girard has already created numerous fragrances, the Lacoste brand chose him to reinterpret its values at the heart of l'Homme Lacoste and l'Homme Lacoste Intense. On this subject, Michel Girard states that he was tenacious and bold. Regarding the composition of l'Homme Lacoste Intense, he admits: if this new juice had to be characterized, one could say it is a false-fresh or a warm-fresh. The basic idea was to maintain freshness for as long as possible and to choose a theme, a main ingredient. Rhubarb was chosen, which is very interesting for its green facet and its sharp, incisive quality, both sour and bitter. The spicy and woody tonalities of l'Homme Lacoste Intense Lacoste
The composition opens on a gourmand freshness, pairing quince, rhubarb, orange and mandarin. Originating from Asia, rhubarb was cultivated by the Chinese for medicinal purposes. It appeared in Europe in the 17th century, but it was not until the 19th century that rhubarb was cultivated in France. Today, rhubarb is found mainly in the north and east of France. Its stalks can reach 1 m in height, but they are, of course, edible. Indeed, while the stalk has a somewhat sour taste, it can be cooked and consumed as compote, tart or jam. Rhubarb is also used in perfumery. Nevertheless, the rhubarb accord is reconstructed by the perfumer from other essences. It gives off sweet, green, floral and sour tonalities. The heart of l'Homme Lacoste Intense then evolves toward maximum power and spice, combining ginger, black pepper, almond, jasmine and hedione. Originating from southern India and Asia, ginger is an herbaceous plant with knotty rhizomes and slender stems. Ginger was precious in China and India, where it was used in Ayurvedic medicine. Ginger is grown in sunny tropical areas. In perfumery, the rhizomes are steam-distilled. Ginger offers scents that are both oily, soapy and zesty. Finally, the base of the composition carries an intense sensuality, combining vanilla, cedar, vetiver, musk, akigalawood and cypriol essence to leave an ultra-addictive sillage.
