Lolita Lempicka launched her first fragrance in 1997, composed by Annick Menardo: a gourmand oriental centered on licorice. Anise, licorice and violet open onto ivy, amarena cherry and iris, then a base of tonka bean, vanilla, heliotrope and white musk, in a mauve glass apple adorned with ivy.
The house describes anise seeds paired with licorice and violet, lifted by the bright green of ivy. Amarena, a small morello cherry with an almond scent, joins the woodiness of iris; tonka bean, vanilla, heliotrope and white musk make up the gourmand base.
Victoria Frolova of Bois de Jasmin smells anise joined to sweet, green violet notes, and a touch of cherry, almond and heliotrope reminiscent of Loulou. Portia of Perfume Posse imagines a fizzy drink of licorice, sugared almonds and praline, with none of the stickiness.
What stays out
Raspberry, vetiver and amaryllis, attributed to the fragrance by some lists, are not part of the house’s description. No ingredient list specific to the 1997 version could be found; the one in circulation belongs to Mon Premier Parfum.
