Pierre Guillaume launched Le Musc & La Peau in 2016, in Parfumerie Générale’s Rework collection: he took the musk milk of Musc Maori and left out its chocolate. Seven musks evoking skin are dressed with bergamot, aldehydes and rosemary, ylang-ylang, sandalwood and cedar, tonka bean and ambroxan, for a skin scent to be worn alone or as a base.
The house describes a milk of seven musks with the scent of skin, dressed with sensual balms and warm woods. The blend is adorned with ylang-ylang, tonka bean, amber, cedar, rosemary and touches of vanilla; the house highlights rosemary milk, ylang-ylang and musks.
At the launch, Michelyn Camen of ÇaFleurBon placed bergamot, aldehydes and rosemary milk in the top, ylang-ylang, sandalwood and cedar in the heart, and tonka bean absolute, ambroxide and musk milk in the base.
Now Smell This names the seven musks: astrolide, fixolide, velvione, ambrettolide, exaltolide, musk T and habanolide. The announcement adds ambroxide and a musk milk accord, which links it to Musc Maori.
The ingredient list
The full list published by the house, updated in December 2024, declares among other things oils of bergamot, Virginia cedar, ylang-ylang and geranium, as well as vanillin and coumarin.
What stays out
Lilac and white musks, attributed to the fragrance by some descriptions, appear neither in the house’s text nor in the breakdown published at the launch; amber and vanilla, cited by the house, are not part of that breakdown either.
