Pierre Guillaume launched Le Musc & La Peau in 2016, in Parfumerie Générale’s Rework collection: he took the musk milk of Musc Maori and left out its chocolate. Seven musks evoking skin are dressed with bergamot, aldehydes and rosemary, ylang-ylang, sandalwood and cedar, tonka bean and ambroxan, for a skin scent to be worn alone or as a base.
The house’s emblem bottle: a rectangular face with curved sides, a cylindrical cap and a rosette bearing the fragrance’s name.
The fragrance comes in the house’s emblem bottle. Pierre Guillaume says he chose accuracy and precision over an overused minimalism: function alone guides the design, to contain and to show the fragrance.
A rectangular face contrasts with subtly curved sides, designed for a woman’s hand as well as a man’s. The inner edges, reduced to the extreme, make the bottle, according to the house, a screen onto a liquid poem, a window onto essence and the essential.
A discreet cylindrical cap and a 35 mm rosette bearing the name crown it. Glass, labels and pump come apart for recycling; the cap, made of aluminum and plastic, weighs only 2.7 g. The 200 ml size uses a Splash & Spray sprayer.
