Kenzo Homme, the masculine reference in perfumery The Kenzo house is unique, in the image of its creator Kenzo Takada. From the very beginning, Kenzo quickly showed a distinctive style blending East and West. In 1988, Kenzo launched a perfume line. Its first great success was called Kenzo by Kenzo for women. Kenzo pour Homme was born in 1991, marking the brand's first masculine fragrance.

Where to buy

Today, Kenzo wanted to revisit its perfume. While the new Kenzo pour Homme remains a delightful contrast between aquatic notes and woody notes, it aims to be more modern, more authentic… As if to reaffirm the house's origins and values.

Kenzo Homme, the harmony of aquatic and woody effluvia

To create this new fragrance, Kenzo called upon Nathalie Gracia-Cetto and Olivier Pescheux, perfumers of great renown. They imagined an olfactory composition brimming with ingredients. Kenzo pour Homme opens with highly invigorating notes marked by lemon and bergamot. Mint and a marine accord help reinforce this impression and provide a great sense of freshness. The character of Kenzo pour Homme then reveals itself through a very spicy heart made up of nutmeg, thyme, and clove. Next, a woody scent emerges with the presence of pine needles and juniper. Peach softens the whole and wraps it in extreme voluptuousness, while rose, iris and jasmine offer an elegant floral dimension. The base sillage is distinctly masculine, combining white musks, amber, vetiver, oakmoss, sandalwood, cedar and labdanum. A strong character for a thoroughly virile fragrance.

The revisited bottle of Kenzo Homme, Eau de Parfum

The bottle of the original Kenzo Homme made a strong impression with its distinctive, unconventional design. That is why Kenzo chose to keep the same bottle. It resembles a glass case turning toward the wind. The glass differs from that of its predecessor, appearing more weathered, as if the sea had left traces of its passage. Here again is the bamboo, sculpted into the glass, a symbol of the East. The bamboo evokes spirituality and fullness. The bottle also offers a gradient of blue, beginning with transparent luminosity at its base and deepening into an intense blue, lending it a very pure aspect. Just like the composition, the bottle reflects an extreme and powerful virility.

Kenzo wanted to revisit its great success Kenzo pour Homme, released in 1991. While it still plays on the contrast between aquatic notes and woody notes, Kenzo Homme is more complex, more powerful, more modern. The bottle, very similar to its predecessor, embraces a virile yet very pure side… The new masculine reference.

Olfastory’s review

Created in 1991 by Christian Mathieu, Kenzo Homme is a true icon of perfumery. It is also, incidentally, the first masculine fragrance created by the Japanese house Kenzo. Aquatic and refreshing, it is an essential that suits every occasion, regardless of season or the man wearing it. But what accounts for such longevity? Here is our review of this masculine fragrance.
