Obsession for Men

Obsession for Men, all the masculine virility of Calvin Klein, whose real name is Richer Klein, grew up in the Bronx in a post-war world. He developed a passion for fashion and haute couture at a very young age, and founded his company in 1968 with the help of his childhood friend.

Calvin Klein's first collections were huge successes. Minimalist yet elegant, they scored victory after victory. Because for him fragrances are inseparable from fashion, Calvin Klein launched a perfumery line as early as 1981. One year after Obsession Femme, in 1986, Calvin Klein presented its masculine counterpart, Obsession for Men.

The masculine madness signed Calvin Klein

The first advertising clip for the Obsession fragrance featured Kate Moss, the very famous and no less beautiful model. In this clip, she said that between love and madness lies obsession. The Obsession man is therefore on the edge of madness, overtaken by a passion he cannot shake off. Obsession for Men exalts this passion. Obsession has a touch of provocation which, it must be said, accounts for its success. Sex-driven communication as well as the visual aesthetic of the 1980s were booming, and Calvin Klein staked his claim. The Obsession man is not only charming and charismatic, he uses all of his physical attraction and does not care about being provocative. Like its feminine counterpart, Obsession for Men is a very powerful and sensual fragrance that breaks away from convention.

The originality of the Obsession for Men composition

The success of Obsession for Men lies in a particularly exceptional composition. Obsession for Men opens with ultra sparkling citrus notes such as mandarin, lemon, grapefruit and bergamot. These are paired with green notes as well as lavender, coriander, cinnamon and nutmeg, forming a heart that is at once floral, aromatic and spicy. The base is meant to be more sensual and enveloping thanks to the presence of patchouli, sandalwood, benzoin, vanilla and vetiver. As for the bottle, it too is meant to be carnal, echoing its feminine counterpart. The idea was to give it curves evocative of sensuality. Signed Pierre Dinand, the bottle draws inspiration from an Indian prayer stone brought back from the southwestern United States, belonging to Calvin Klein's personal collection of rare objects.

An original and exceptional composition, Obsession for Men is a carnal juice, between madness and love. Like the Calvin Klein woman, the man uses and overuses his charm. Sensual but also sexual, the clips are slightly provocative, echoing the designer's style. Original composition, sensual bottle, seductive man, everything was crafted so that one cannot resist temptation.
