Jasmin des Anges appeared in 2018 in the exclusive fragrance collection of Dior, where François Demachy gave the jasmine of Grasse an apricot cast. The house calls it floral, apricot-tinged and honeyed, and has never published a set of tiers. The name points to the Baie des Anges, which Christian Dior looked out over from his estate at La Colle Noire. Three sizes: 50, 100 and 200 ml.
Dior publishes no tiers and keeps to three words, floral, apricot, honeyed, describing a liqueur-like jasmine embroidered with apricot nectar and honeyed highlights. The order given here follows the reading of Hulya Aksu and the base that Osmoz describes.
What the house declares
Jasmine holds the subject from start to finish. Dior calls it stripped of its animalic facets, rounded by apricot and honey, and traces that fruity fullness to flowers soaked in sun at the end of summer. The house classification is floral fruity.
The base
Osmoz gives as base a white musk and a vanilla that underline the warmth of the flower. Hulya Aksu describes the same thing differently: a musky warmth, barely vanillic, that softens the edges without ever covering the jasmine.
What stays out
A bergamot top note, an osmanthus and a peach in the heart circulate everywhere, though neither Dior nor Osmoz declares them. Hulya Aksu reads peach and osmanthus as facets taken on by the apricot rather than as separate raw materials. She notes a brief citrus brightness at the opening, which she ties to no named material.
