Cedar in the foreground
Cedar plays the leading role, as in the original eau de toilette from which the fragrance derives. At its launch, the house announced a trio of cedar, leather and oriental notes, with more pronounced woody and balsamic accents.
Leather and spices
Richard Goller, when the fragrance came out, smelled the bitter orange of the original pass briefly before powerful accents of leather and spice, cardamom and cumin. He placed cedar, an amber wood and vetiver in the base.
Amber and vanilla
The base, as the house describes it today, pairs cedar with the opulence of amber notes and the sensuality of vanilla, which give the fragrance its enveloping character.
