The Courrèges Homme Sport masculine fragrance. André Courrèges founded his own fashion house on a fine day in 1961. Three years later, the designer created his first Haute Couture collection for women. He became known for his futuristic and minimalist fashion.
The house of Courrèges has always been synonymous with innovation, even revolutions, in the world of fashion and perfumery. Thanks to the drive of two men, Courrèges has now reconnected with its innovative ideas by offering haute couture collections as original as Moon Girl or unprecedented and offbeat fragrances such as La Fille de l'Air or Blanc. With two fragrances for men, including the aquatic Courrèges Homme Sport, the year 2018 will once again be marked by the Courrèges revolution.
Courrèges Homme Sport, or the fragrance of the 2.0 athlete signed Courrèges
The history of Courrèges is above all the story of a man, André Courrèges, who had wild ideas and an irresistible urge to bring them to life. With his miniskirts, his shift dresses and his white boots, Courrèges revolutionized fashion in the 1960s and 70s by bringing a great gust of freshness and originality to it. For fragrances, the inspiration would be the same, and Empreinte, Eau de Courrèges and In Blue would be praised to the skies by a broad public of Courrèges lovers.
Yet with men's fragrances as with men's collections, the story appears more complex. Either too far ahead of its time or men too far behind theirs, Courrèges has often missed its rendezvous with the male audience. In order to correct this misstep, the house of Courrèges's new artistic directors will once again attempt the bold gamble, already successful with fashion since 2014, of reconnecting with these gentlemen by offering them two fragrances in 2018: the woody-gourmand Courrèges Homme and the sparkling, sensual aquatic Courrèges Homme Sport.
As for Courrèges Homme Sport, the composition created by Benoist Lapouza aims to be both slightly retro and fiercely modern, even definitively avant-garde. Nevertheless, it inevitably brings to mind one of its brilliant predecessors, gone too soon, the sublime Niagara by Courrèges released in 1995 and composed by Francis Camail…
Between marine notes and powerful fruity woods, the Courrèges Homme Sport fragrance breathes new life
The new men's fragrances offered by Courrèges in 2018 would be a bold blend of relatively traditional accords from masculine perfumery (citrus, fougères…) and much more fashionable, even avant-garde notes that delightfully upend the habits of men. As for Courrèges Homme Sport, Benoist Lapouza thus opened the fragrance with classic accords in order to better carry these gentlemen off into intoxicating sea breezes that are much woodier than usual.
Thus Courrèges Homme Sport opens with notes of bergamot paired with juicy pears and grape, which gives this opening a citrus energy tinged with fruity sweetness, an unexpected pairing! At heart, the marine note blends with a burst of mint and geranium. However, violet plays the surprise guest by powdering the whole, and cardamom does not hesitate to bring its blazing warmth to this icy blend either. Finally, this spicy force finds refuge in intense woody depths where ambroxan, vetiver and cedar take on an absolute virility.
