Between the tartness of lemon and pepper in the opening and the velvety warmth of sandalwood and vanilla in the base, Gypsy Water plays on a clear contrast. Launched by Byredo in 2008, the composition, woody and aromatic, is available as an Eau de Parfum. Juniper, pine and incense trace a resinous thread from one tier to the next.

Top

Lemon opens on a tart freshness, to which bergamot adds a fruity, sweet note. Pepper brings dry spices tinged with herbs. Juniper berries and juniper extend this peppery path, with a green opening and a resinous facet with woody accents.

Heart

Incense diffuses camphoraceous, waxy and spicy tones. Pine evokes resin, wood and a holiday scent. Iris weaves a buttery powderiness, close to violet. Lemon and citrus retain their tart freshness, while sandalwood and vanilla announce their warmth.

Base

Sandalwood offers a velvety, warm wood, a material drawn from a tree long used in perfumery. Vanilla, taken from the pod of an orchid, brings sugar, spice and warmth to this final tier.

Woody and aromatic

The woody classification rests on sandalwood, pine and juniper, whose woody and resinous facets run through all three tiers. The aromatic share comes from the herbaceous and spicy notes: dry pepper, green juniper berries, camphoraceous incense, a register that usually draws from plants and spices.
