Lignum Idealis

Lignum Idealis was launched in 2025 by Gucci within the Alchemist's Garden collection, a line inspired by apothecary and Italian herbalism created in 2019. Signed by perfumer Alexis Grugeon, this unisex eau de parfum belongs to the woody spicy olfactory family and presents itself as an ode to the giant sequoia, a tree emblematic for its exceptional dimensions. The house claims the use of modern headspace technology to capture the olfactory essence of this tree.

The top blends an essence of juniper berries and black pepper, forming a fresh and spicy opening. The heart develops an accord of cypress and olibanum — incense — which establishes a resinous and sylvan dimension. The base rests on a creamy sandalwood, cedar and vetiver. The house also mentions the presence of a giant sequoia note, captured through headspace technology according to its claim, as well as a “dreamwood” note, both contributing to the evocation of the ancient forest without these elements appearing in the official pyramid.
