Blanche is the eau de parfum Byredo launched in 2009, the Swedish house’s eighth fragrance. Its founder, Ben Gorham, built it around his perception of white: aldehydes and pink pepper in the top, white rose, neroli, peony and violet at the heart, blonde woods, sandalwood and musk in the base, for a clean, crisp floral.
Jane Cunningham, on British Beauty Blogger, finds that Blanche smells like a very fancy washing powder and feels a mild, comforting attraction to it, more tender than passionate.
What critics say
British Beauty Blogger, August 2021
Jane Cunningham discovers Blanche through the collector’s edition and says she is not familiar with Byredo. She smells a very fancy washing powder, which she finds fitting, and later a powdery rose and a base of sandalwood and musk that evokes skin.
She says she is captivated, but not passionately: the attraction remains mild and comforting. She suggests spraying it on sheets, or wearing it in the evening, before going to bed.
