Black Orchid Parfum, launched by Tom Ford in 2020, is the most concentrated version of Black Orchid, the house’s first fragrance. Its ylang-ylang is amplified and its rum absolute and black plum gain more relief, around an opening of truffle and a base of patchouli, in a bottle that is gold all over, from plaque to cap.
Black Orchid Parfum opens on plum and truffle, makes black orchid, ylang-ylang and rum its heart and rests on patchouli. The house presents it as an intensification of the original, from which it keeps the truffle and the patchouli.
Plum and truffle
The top pairs black plum, which the house says is more pronounced than in the original, with black truffle, one of Black Orchid’s signatures since 2006, which gives the opening its dark character.
Orchid, ylang-ylang and rum
The heart brings together the black orchid created for Tom Ford, an amplified narcotic ylang-ylang and a rum absolute. The house sums up this heart with the image of ylang-ylang flowers dipped in golden rum.
Patchouli
The base rests on patchouli, which the house associates with marked earthy accents and which extends the depth of the composition.
What stays out
The bergamot, bitter orange, blackcurrant and vanilla of the 2006 eau de parfum do not appear among the notes the house publishes for the Parfum.
What the label declares
The ingredient list has twenty-one entries. After alcohol, fragrance and water come an antioxidant, BHT, and regulated allergens, including linalool, limonene, cinnamyl alcohol, coumarin, eugenol, isoeugenol, cinnamal and anise alcohol.
