Bitter Peach is the eau de parfum Tom Ford added to his Private Blend collection in October 2020. A fruity floral that opens on vineyard peach, Sicilian blood orange and cardamom, with a heart of heliotrope, davana, rum and cognac and a base of sandalwood, patchouli, vanilla and tonka bean, in a peach-coloured bottle.
Kafkaesque, in December 2020, finds a syrupy, very boozy peach that drifts towards a fruity patchouli close to Angel’s before a creamy, woody base; she judges the fragrance too simple for its price.
What critics say
Kafkaesque, December 2020
Kafkaesque, on 19 December 2020, finds Bitter Peach exactly what she expected, and less. The opening is a fresh but candied peach, syrupy, barely bitter, like canned peaches in syrup; rum and davana add a note of apricot and liqueur, to the point of evoking a mango fruit cocktail.
After about twenty minutes a fruity, chocolatey patchouli emerges, which she likens to that of Angel, without considering Bitter Peach a copy. The fragrance shifts towards wood: sandalwood, vanilla and tonka around the fourth hour, clean, musky cashmeran around the sixth, and a creamy base of tonka and pale woods.
She notes powerful projection in the first hour and a presence of twelve to fourteen hours. Yet she judges the fragrance too simple, dominated by two or three notes, for 350 dollars for 50 ml.
