Ambre Nuit is the unisex eau de parfum that François Demachy composed in 2009 for Dior, the fourth of the colognes born under Hedi Slimane, since folded into La Collection Privée. An amber floral silhouette for the house: an amber note in the opening, a velvety Damask rose, between shadow and light, like a shifting taffeta. Pink pepper, bergamot, ambergris, cedar, guaiac wood and patchouli according to Wikiparfum; 50, 100 and 200 ml.
Birgit (Olfactoria's Travels) finds the rose charming and the amber gently smoky, but the sillage too heavy for her: not every amber is for her.

Birgit, in December 2011, describes an opening of bergamot and pepper where a charming rose quickly arrives, surrounded by spicy accents and set on a woody accord, amber and patchouli turning around it in a gently smoky and frankly oriental way. She considers it a fragrance for the cold months, wearable in summer with restraint.
What bothers her a little is a sillage too heavy for her taste, far more diffusive than she expected and than she likes; the title of her review says it, not every amber is for her, and this one leaves her unmoved.
