For a very long time, perfumery was dominated by the presence of Eaux de Cologne. Although these fragrances are now noticeably less present than they used to be, we have retained certain olfactory habits from them.
Released in 2010, Acqua Di Gioia is an essence inspired by an island dear to the heart of Giorgio Armani. Between heightened sensuality and dazzling nature, Acqua Di Gioia offers a fragrance full of emotion. As though positioned between sea and land, Acqua Di Gioia conveys a sense of infinite freedom. Here, everything is luxury, calm and pleasure. This island between sun and sea spray is an olfactory representation signed by a brilliant trio of perfumers, Anne Flipo, Loc Dong and Dominique Ropion.
3 perfumers for an Armani essence of crystalline nature
To represent the island where he recharges, Giorgio Armani chose 3 great perfumers, each already credited with numerous successes. Although Anne Flipo grew up in Picardy, far from Grasse, she nonetheless became a highly talented and highly sought-after perfumer. Anne Flipo currently works for IFF (International Flavors and Fragrances). She is behind magnificent fragrances such as La Vie est Belle by Lancôme, and La Nuit de l’Homme by Yves Saint Laurent. Loc Dong is likewise a major figure in the world of perfumery. Like Anne Flipo, he works at IFF. Very discreet, Loc Dong is a simple and serious man. He is behind such beautiful essences as Manifesto by Yves Saint Laurent (in collaboration with Anne Flipo) and Euphoria by Calvin Klein. As for Dominique Ropion, he is no less talented. He enjoys studying and analyzing every raw material, and knows all their secrets. Regarded as a perfectionist and an exceptional perfumer, Dominique Ropion is also behind such major fragrances as Pure Poison by Christian Dior and Invictus by Paco Rabanne (in collaboration with Anne Flipo).
Acqua Di Gioia, notes scented with freedom
Here, it is the elements themselves that our three perfumers wanted to highlight. Between land, sea and sun, Acqua Di Gioia is a genuine postcard. Nature and the wider world take on an outsized power. Acqua Di Gioia opens with an absolutely striking freshness. It combines crushed green mint notes with zests from the lemon tree fruit of the first Calabrian lemon bloom, called Limone Primo Fiore Femminello. Then the heart of Acqua Di Gioia is steeped in water jasmine, lending the whole unexpected sensations, at once feminine and highly aquatic. Finally, the base is mineral in character, harmoniously combining cedarwood with labdanum, evoking the scents of earth with a few touches of brown sugar meant to give the composition a delicate gourmand touch. The very refined bottle resembles a drop of water in emerald green, as though a delicate wave had slipped inside… A little gem!
Between land, sky and sea, Acqua Di Gioia tells the olfactory story of an island that Giorgio Armani holds particularly dear. Soft, sensual and ultra feminine, Acqua Di Gioia is an essence as bold as it is original.
