The history of Eau de Cologne 4711 began in 1792 when Wilhelm Mülhens created a fresh fragrance from an Aqua Mirabilis formula given to him by a Carthusian monk. However, the numbering of Cologne was changed in 1811 and this address became number 12 on the same street.
