White Suede is the eau de parfum Tom Ford launched in 2009 in the White Musk collection of his Private Blend line. Musk meets leather and suede here: Bulgarian rose, saffron and thyme in the top, lily of the valley, olibanum, tea and maté at the heart, sandalwood, white musks and amber in the base.
Kevin, on Now Smell This, finds White Suede cheap-smelling and old-fashioned, more starlet than diva, and regrets a laundry-detergent musk base that will not fade.
What critics say
Now Smell This, October 2009
Kevin discovered White Suede with the three other fragrances of the White Musk collection. He smells in it an evocation of Middle Eastern perfumery that strikes him as cheap, feminine and old-fashioned, more starlet than diva.
For him the base turns into pure laundry-detergent musk, a musk that, by his own account, clings in an absolutely frightful way, long after the rose and spices have gone.
