Tobacco Vanille

Today the house lists tobacco leaf, ginger, spicy notes, tonka bean, cocoa and a fruity accord. Its description adds vanilla, accords of dried fruits and notes of sweet wood sap, for a modern, opulent, almost heady impression.

Tobacco and spices

Tobacco leaf opens the eau de parfum, heightened by aromatic spices. Ginger, absent from the 2007 description, now ranks among the main notes; the house links it to the first impressions, beside tobacco and tobacco flower.

Tonka, vanilla and cocoa

Creamy tonka bean, vanilla and cocoa fill the middle of the composition. Tom Ford pairs them with tobacco flower, which he names along with spices and vanilla to sum up his fragrance. The base blends an accord of dried fruits with sweet wood sap.

The 2007 description

At launch, the house described a smooth oriental: tobacco leaf and aromatic spices at the opening; creamy tonka bean, tobacco flower, vanilla and cocoa in the heart; and an accord of dried fruits enriched with sweet wood sap in the base. Ginger did not appear.

What the label declares

The ingredient list published by the house has twenty-eight entries. After denatured alcohol comes tetramethyl acetyloctahydronaphthalenes, a woody molecule known as Iso E Super, ahead of water, fragrance and vanillin.

The declared allergens include coumarin, eugenol, isoeugenol and cinnamal, along with clove, cinnamon bark and bitter orange peel essential oils, rose ketones and camphor.

A shorter list, with fourteen entries under formula code ILN39914, still circulates in Europe: it names neither the woody molecule, nor vanillin, nor these essential oils.
