Pour un Homme de Caron Parfum is the most concentrated version of Pour Un Homme, the men’s fragrance Caron launched in 1934. The house sets French lavender and lavandin against a vanilla note, amber and musk, around a heart of Turkish rose, in a bottle with a deep green gradient topped with metal of bluish glints.
Caron describes a top of lavender and lavandin, a heart of rose and a base of vanilla, amber and musk. The house sets out its materials in two sides, lavender and vanilla, which form the contrast of the whole Pour Un Homme line.
The lavender side
The lavender side brings together French lavender essence and absolute, French lavandin essence and absolute, and a Turkish rose essence. Lavender lends its herbaceous freshness; lavandin, a more camphoraceous hybrid, supports it, and the rose rounds it out.
The vanilla side
The vanilla side combines vanilla, musk, opoponax essence, a resin with balsamic tones, and styrax resinoid. These materials give the fragrance the suave amber that the house sets against the freshness of the lavender.
What the label declares
Denatured alcohol, water and fragrance open the list, ahead of four UV filters that protect the juice from light. Linalool and coumarin, with its hay tones, open the series of declared allergens.
Next come benzyl benzoate, geraniol, limonene, benzyl cinnamate, citronellol, alpha-isomethyl ionone, cinnamyl alcohol and citral. Three colorants, blue, violet and yellow, tint the juice, and the label states an alcohol content of 82% vol.
