The house of Molinard was already known as a master of oriental perfumes thanks to the brilliant and innovative Habanita, born in 1921. Buoyed by its enormous success in perfumery, the house of Molinard persisted and, thirty years later, offered Nirmala and its taste of faraway places. Nirmala is the fragrance that, as the house so dearly loves, indulges in a mixing of genres, blending with the greatest skill the finest flowers of Grasse with exotic ingredients still little known to this audience of perfume lovers in the 1950s.

Nirmala, which means luminous, brilliant in Sanskrit, is meant to be a romantic stopover between the dreams and warmth of the Orient and the sunlit brightness of Provence, two lands so dear to Molinard. The advertising of the time for Nirmala announced that Nirmala wanted to bring the exquisite freshness of the flowers of Provence and the lasting scent of the rare essences of India.

Nirmala is therefore the fruit of a blending of cultures between East and West, built around chic and, above all, deeply timeless essences that, long afterward, still inspire the greatest perfumers of the 21st century. It is whispered that Thierry Mugler's nose may have drawn inspiration from this luminous and innovative Nirmala for the gourmand oriental composition of the great Angel!
