Lacoste's adventure in perfumery began in 1984. At the time, the house imagined a fragrance intended for elegant athletes in search of comfort and well-being. Then, many other perfumes followed, such as Booster in 1996 or Lacoste pour Homme in 2002.
The Lacoste house is famous worldwide for its polo shirts and its universe deeply steeped in tennis. It must be said that the house owes its existence to a former tennis champion: the very famous René Lacoste. Moreover, for several decades, Lacoste has also distinguished itself in the world of perfumery. Thus, its elegant yet casual wardrobe is now enhanced by fragrances that are just as refreshing as they are bold. In 2020, Lacoste gave birth to a new masculine perfume named Match Point. Match Point: a green composition woven with bold ingredients
Lacoste's Match Point is a perfume unlike any other. Thus, it relies on freshness but does not contain the traditional ingredients usually found in men's perfumes. Here, forget the traditional zesty citrus burst. Lacoste prefers basil essential oil. Rarely used in perfumes, this gives this fragrance a particularly green and aromatic breath. Moreover, it is immediately balanced by a warmer, spicier addition of pink pepper. From then on, Match Point releases untamed fervor and extraordinary energy. Its heart, meanwhile, contains another surprising ingredient: gentian absolute, famous for its freshness and vibrant breath. Gradually, Lacoste nevertheless moves toward a more traditional woody base for men's perfumery. Vetiver completes this composition and gives it more presence and persistence. The result is an exhilarating and surprising perfume. Undeniably, Match Point displays a perfect combination of freshness, strength and originality. The magic works: game, set and match!
Lacoste creates a minimalist bottle that is nonetheless very revealing of its universe
As for the bottle, Lacoste opts for a timeless design. Thus, its bottle at first seems devoid of any superfluous element. Yet, do not be fooled by this appearance. In reality, this container has been studied down to the smallest detail. Let's start with its base. Its surface is not entirely flat. Its concave base recalls the imprint of a tennis ball rubbing against the ground. Thus, the scene is immediately set. The green color dominates through the transparent walls of its glass. This color references several elements. Of course, it is a nod to Lacoste's iconic crocodile, while also echoing the color of René Lacoste's racket as well as green tennis courts. The whole is topped with a small black rubber cap, whose stitching immediately evokes the look of a racket handle. Finally, a white label sparingly displays the name of this perfume on its front face. Split in two by a black line, this label evokes a tennis court cut by the net as well as the palpable tension when the final match point is played.
