Madly Kenzo

Madly Kenzo was launched in 2011 and symbolizes the boldness of the Kenzo house. The Madly Kenzo woman is cheerful, inventive, spontaneous and instantly recognizable! In reality, Madly Kenzo is a flor021 fragrance—both soft and sweet, floriental in character. Here, Madly Kenzo, which means “Follement Kenzo” (Madly Kenzo), invites every woman toward unreason. It is as if the Kenzo house were whispering to them: follies are the only things one never regrets. Madly Kenzo is inevitably the fragrance of a free woman who upends conventions.

To create such a bold fragrance, the Kenzo house chose Aurélien Guichard as perfumer. Aurélien Guichard is said to have perfumery in his blood, as he represents the seventh generation of perfumers. Holding a DEUG in chemistry as well as a diploma from the prestigious perfumery school ISIPCA, Aurélien Guichard is the son of Jean Guichard, Director of the Givaudan school. Speaking of his father, Aurélien Guichard states: I have a fantastic father. He is a great creator, but also a brilliant person. He is someone profoundly humane who believes in people. I never felt any additional pressure or a sense of competition with him, or the idea that I had to do at least as well as him. Aurélien Guichard is a contemporary perfumer, creative, intuitive and sincere, who puts his whole heart into his fragrances. He is responsible for some very great fragrances such as Ricci Ricci by Nina Ricci, Pleats Please by Issey Miyake, and For Her, l’Eau by Narciso Rodriguez.

Madly Kenzo, bold yet ultra-sensual fragrant notes

Madly Kenzo opens with the pairing of orange blossom with pink pepper, thus displaying the composition’s carefree side. Pink pepper is regarded as “false pepper.” It owes its various names (Réunion pepper, Bourbon pepper) to the island of Réunion, where it originates. Pink pepper is also grown in Peru. False pepper releases sweet, even sugary facets at first, becoming more aromatic, spicy and warm afterward. Then, the heart of Madly Kenzo takes on floral tonalities through the presence of heliotrope and rose, enhanced by notes of incense. Native to Peru, heliotrope has been cultivated in Europe for a century. Also called the “Lady’s flower,” heliotrope loves sunshine and warmth. Heliotrope is known for having a truly captivating scent. Its flowers are white, blue or purple. In the language of flowers, heliotrope symbolizes attachment, particularly friendship. In perfumery, heliotrope releases tonalities that are at once floral, balsamic and sweet. Finally, the base of Madly Kenzo carries ultra-sensual notes, combining vanilla, cedarwood, sandalwood and white musks. The curves of the bottle, shaped like a drop of water, are as bold as the composition.
