Beyond being the muse who inspired the magnificent Femme released in 1944, Hélène Rochas (whose real first name was Nelly) was a woman who never stayed in the shadow of her famous husband Marcel Rochas. Indeed, as early as 1950, her husband entrusted her with the direction of the house's haute couture creation. Although in 1953 Rochas decided to create only perfumes, Hélène gradually took on her role as a powerful woman until she obtained the position of CEO of Rochas upon the death of her beloved husband.

While this role might seem relatively natural today, in 1960 Hélène Rochas, “Madame Rochas”, was the only female business leader in France. A challenge worthy of this great lady, who wanted to sign, with Madame Rochas, a perfume bearing her indelible mark. Madame Rochas, composed by Guy Robert, would therefore embody this independent woman, at once graceful while being an indispensable and above all essential presence.

I wanted to offer a little of myself. My perfume had to perpetuate elegance according to Rochas while reflecting the image of the independent woman I had become. Hélène Rochas on Madame Rochas.

The floral and amber femininity of Madame Rochas

The lovely eight-sided bottle of Madame Rochas is inspired by 18th-century salt bottles, a tribute from Madame Rochas to one of the precious gifts her husband gave her. The gilded cabochon, of great modernity, highlights this beautiful bottle by giving it a refined elegance. As for the label, it is whispered that Madame Rochas herself wrote the name on it.

Madame Rochas opens on a fresh wind of bergamot and lemon propelled by the powerful luminosity of neroli flower. A touch of aldehydes reinforces these luminous freshnesses. At the heart, white flowers play their soft symphony, colored with notes of jasmine, rose, ylang-ylang, lily of the valley and tuberose. The strength of this great scented lady shows itself in deep and sensual sillages of sandalwood, vetiver and cedar, all powdered with a few precious notes of iris.
