Le Sel D'Issey

Le Sel d’Issey is the men’s eau de toilette Issey Miyake launched in 2024, composed by Quentin Bisch of Givaudan. Around salt, which has no smell, it sets a marine pole, a salty accord, laminaria seaweed, oakmoss and ginger, against a woody pole of vetiver and cedar, in a bottle by Tokujin Yoshioka.

Jerome Henry, on Dapper and Groomed, praised in 2026 a salt made elegant rather than gimmicky, more modern and more understated than Kenzo’s eau de toilette, and named it his favorite daytime fragrance.

What critics say

Dapper and Groomed, January 2026

On January 8, 2026, Jerome Henry is surprised from the opening: ginger and sea salt form a mysterious, unexpected and bold start, yet a controlled one. Vetiver and seaweed quickly soften the aquatic freshness and make the fragrance earthier, over a warm base of cedar and oakmoss.

He finds in it a hint of Kenzo pour Homme eau de toilette, which is brighter and more aquatic, and judges it more modern, more understated and more elegant. He commends Quentin Bisch for making salt elegant rather than gimmicky, names it his favorite daytime fragrance and recommends it to men over thirty.
