On June 13, 2026, Varanis Ridari, of the blog The Scented Devil, judged Original Aqua to have no olfactory link with the 2024 Lacoste Original, with which it would share only the bottle and one of the perfumers. Hardly original in the reviewer’s eyes, the fragrance remains an honest modern aquatic.
Blue and green
The opening recalls Montblanc Legend Spirit, with a slight bubblegum sweetness, and the fruity lavender and sage fougère of Montblanc Legend, made a little metallic. A saltiness evokes Electimus’s Black Caviar; the base brings together ambroxan, dry woods and white musks.
Varanis Ridari attributes the composition to Marie Salamagne, who in the reviewer’s view blends blue and green qualities, fougère and aquatic, in a way rarely seen since the early 1990s. The verdict remains favorable, for casual wear.
