Travel is undoubtedly one of the most beautiful sources of inspiration for perfumers. Many consider that it shapes creativity and youth. Also, as if to pay homage to this longing for faraway places, Courrèges created, in 2015, a perfume named La Fille de l'Air.
La Fille de l'Air is regarded as an ode to freedom, primarily that of women. André and Coqueline Courrèges were committed to championing the cause of women, those of the 1960s. At that time, the brand advocated for the wearing of the miniskirt. After the success of La Fille de l'Air, Courrèges decided to create flankers such as La Fille de l'Air Monoï, released in 2017. More exotic than its predecessor, this one carries us even further, to distant lands and islands full of sunshine.
Fabrice Pellegrin embarks on a new journey with Courrèges
Once again, it is Fabrice Pellegrin who is behind La Fille de l'Air Monoï. The son of a perfumer, Fabrice Pellegrin has loved scents since childhood. He is a simple and discreet man. He currently works for the Swiss aroma creation company Firmenich. Fabrice Pellegrin favors natural raw materials and draws his creativity from the heart of nature itself. Each of his perfumes has as its primary purpose to take us on a journey, as far as possible. He knows how to bring to his creations all his love, but also all his emotions. In 2017, at the age of 48, Fabrice Pellegrin received an award from the trade magazine Cosmétique Mag, which paid tribute to him for his exceptional creativity behind numerous successes. To imagine La Fille de l'Air in 2014, Fabrice Pellegrin had put orange blossom in the spotlight. For La Fille de l'Air Monoï, he decided to take us to a paradise island, Tahiti. To do so, Fabrice Pellegrin once again used orange blossom, neroli, but above all tiare flower.
The Monoï accord of La Fille de l'Air Monoï
Fabrice Pellegrin defined La Fille de l'Air Monoï as a perfume belonging to the great floral family, tied to a fresh, sun-kissed blend. The composition takes flight on the fresh, lively notes of bergamot. This pairs with neroli, which here gives off an exceptional luminosity. Neroli essential oil is obtained from the flowers of the bitter orange tree. This flower is regarded as a symbol of virginity. In Grasse, tradition holds that a garland of neroli flowers is given to newlyweds. The heart of La Fille de l'Air Monoï is laden with orange blossom. The latter is often confused with neroli. Indeed, while orange blossom absolute is obtained from the same flowers as neroli, it is produced in a different way, that is, orange blossom is obtained through solvent extraction. Finally, the base of La Fille de l'Air Monoï is sensual and exotic thanks to the presence of vanilla and tiare flower, the very symbol of Tahiti.
In partnership with Air France, Courrèges presents La Fille de l'Air Monoï, which follows the success of La Fille de l'Air, released in 2014. Once again, it is Fabrice Pellegrin who composed the fragrance. He takes us into the heart of Tahiti, on this island steeped in sunshine and exoticism.
