The news broke this summer and made a huge splash in the world of perfumery: after 20 years without creating any new feminine fragrances, the house of Dior presents an entirely new perfume named Joy. It therefore took some boldness to follow in the footsteps of legends such as the iconic Miss Dior or J'adore. So which ingredients did the house of Dior choose? Joy is a genuine call to seduction and freedom. It is a concentrate of joie de vivre and fully intends to flood the world with its positive glow.
Joy, a composition faceted with light
Who better than François Demachy, official perfumer and creator for the house of Dior, to speak about his own composition, Joy. For him, Joy de Dior expresses that particular feeling that is joy by offering an olfactory interpretation of light. This fragrance resembles certain pointillist paintings, rich in precise technique yet never heavy. It is built from a multiplicity of touches, a myriad of facets that ultimately produce an expression that is nonetheless limpid and obvious. In other words, Joy is designed on a very rich and dense formula, built from raw materials of impeccable quality. Yet it remains a highly accessible fragrance. Here, nothing was left to chance. The luminous femininity of Joy
Joy de Dior opens with a fresh scent of mandarin and bergamot. From the outset, it gives off a feeling of vitality and energy. Then it is enriched by an enormous bouquet of flowers. Naturally, Dior drew its ingredients from the most beautiful gardens of France, not far from the capital of perfumery, in Grasse. The heart of Joy is dominated by jasmine and rose. Juicy fruits only amplify its cheerfulness, making it a fragrance akin to a vibrant smile. Its base then becomes woodier and creamier. It blends sandalwood, cedar and patchouli in turn. White musk, for its part, gives off a sense of absolute purity. Joy de Dior offers a confident femininity, midway between romance and independence. Its complex formula also contains subtler notes in the background. Spirited and energizing, Joy remains nonetheless a pledge of absolute tenderness.
