While all his predecessors were all named Guerlain, Thierry Wasser can boast of having been chosen for his immense talent. Spiritual heir to Jean-Paul Guerlain, Thierry Wasser follows 4 generations of Guerlain perfumers. Thierry Wasser was born in Lausanne (Switzerland) in 1961. After earning a federal diploma in botany, Thierry Wasser learned perfumery within the company Givaudan. It was in 2008 that Thierry Wasser became the official perfumer of the house of Guerlain. Discreet, highly sensitive and particularly creative, he was then tasked with creating new fragrances while respecting the soul of the house of Guerlain. To do so, Jean-Paul Guerlain had, of course, entrusted him with the highly secret Book of Formulas. Thierry Wasser is responsible for such magnificent successes as Idylle, French Kiss, La Petite Robe Noire by Guerlain, as well as Fuel for Life pour Elle by Diesel.

Guerlain Homme is considered a woody aromatic citrus fragrance. Guerlain Homme takes flight on a vivid freshness, namely that of limetta, bergamot and mint, which here reinforces the level of freshness. Originating in Asia, mint gives off a very powerful scent. Mint was used to embalm Greek temples and to protect the homes of the Hebrews. In the Middle Ages, mint was used for its therapeutic properties, mainly calming and antiseptic. Today, there are no fewer than 600 varieties of mint. In perfumery, mint essence is obtained by steam distillation of the fresh flowers. Mint gives off herbaceous, mentholated and sweet tonalities. Then, the heart of Guerlain Homme develops into an accord that is both floral and green, composed of geranium, pelargonium, rhubarb and green tea. Originating in South Africa, pelargonium is a perennial plant that grows in sunny areas. The term pelargonium comes from the Greek pelargos, meaning stork, because the shape of its fruit resembles a stork's beak. Discovered in the 16th century, pelargonium was used for its medicinal properties, mainly to treat respiratory ailments. In perfumery, pelargonium gives off mentholated, herbaceous and floral tonalities. Then, the base of Guerlain Homme develops into the original accord of mojito, rum, lemon, sugar cane, paired with the woody tonality of cedar.
