Guerlain Homme Eau de Parfum is the 2016 version, signed by Thierry Wasser, of the men’s fragrance Guerlain launched in 2008 around a mojito accord. Limetta, peppermint and rum open a fresh floral accord, over a green woody base of patchouli, cedar and vetiver that the house says was reorchestrated for more power.
Guerlain describes the eau de parfum in three accords: a mojito accord of limetta, peppermint and rum; a floral accord; a green woody accord of patchouli, cedar and vetiver.
The mojito accord
Limetta brings its tangy zest, peppermint its lively freshness and rum a slightly sweet warmth: the three materials recall the Cuban cocktail behind the idea of the fragrance.
Flowers and green woods
The floral accord, which the house does not detail, brings freshness and refinement. Patchouli, cedar and vetiver form the base, earthy and woody.
What the label declares
The list opens with alcohol, fragrance and water, and names lemon peel oil, lavender oil, Virginia cedar oil, patchouli oil, pelargonium oil, orange peel oil and peppermint oil, with menthol.
It also lists limonene, linalyl acetate, tetramethyl acetyloctahydronaphthalenes, woody, coumarin, vanillin and isoeugenol, one UV filter and four colorants.
