Eau de Soleil Blanc

Tom Ford opens Eau de Soleil Blanc on a burst of citrus, vert de bergamote, bitter orange and petitgrain bigarade, lifted by a pistachio accord and cardamom. Tuberose, ylang-ylang from the Comoros and orange blossom form the bouquet, warmed by a coco de mer accord and an amber the house calls addictive.

The list of notes released at launch was longer: caraway, pink peppercorn, neroli and citron at the top, morning-picked Moroccan orange blossom, jasmine and galbanum in the middle, vanilla, tonka bean and benzoin in the base, around the coco de mer accord and the amber.

A Soleil Blanc turned toward citrus

In 2016, Soleil Blanc paired cardamom, pink peppercorn, bergamot and pistachio with ylang-ylang, jasmine and tuberose, over a base of amber, tonka bean and coconut milk. The 2018 version keeps this solar base and brings the citrus to the fore: bitter orange, petitgrain and neroli.

What the label declares

The ingredient list Tom Ford publishes today names, after alcohol, water and fragrance, hexamethylindanopyran, a synthetic musk, and bergamot peel oil. Further on come a second musk, hexadecanolactone, and the regulated allergens, including coumarin, vanillin and linalool.

The label also lists the oil of Cananga odorata, the tree whose flowers give ylang-ylang, and carvone, a molecule found in caraway. It ends with three ultraviolet filters and three colorants, red, violet and yellow.
