Coach Dreams Sunset, a 2021 novelty. Coach is a leather goods brand that was created in 1941 and displayed spectacular success in the United States from its very beginnings. An international flagship of American craftsmanship, Coach has also gradually expanded its area of activity, moving from leatherwork to perfumery.
Coach is a New York house that came to life by drawing inspiration from all the effervescence of America. What could be more characteristic of America than its wide open spaces and free spirit? This is precisely what now inspires Coach's fragrance. Named Coach Dreams Sunset, it lets an oriental, floral and amber breath float in the air, while evoking freedom and travel. As its name suggests, it is about a landscape of great beauty, enhanced by a sunset. So how does this translate visually? Here is a breakdown of its bottle.
Coach Dreams Sunset, a fragrance presented in an apothecary vial
Looking at this bottle, no one could truly assign an age or era to the Coach Dreams Sunset fragrance. Its bottle is neither contemporary nor avant-garde, yet not entirely retro either. Carrying a slight vintage touch, it is simply reminiscent of an apothecary vial one might have found in a market on the other side of the world. Is it a souvenir brought back from a trip? No one truly knows where this vial comes from, but it seems to have been slipped into a suitcase on the way back from a journey, like an olfactory memory following a fantastic adventure! As a reminder, Coach Dreams Sunset has a bottle whose shape is identical to that of the first Coach Dreams, created a year earlier, in 2020. The magic still works, and only its hue has been slightly altered to evoke a sunset.
The very natural spirit of Coach Dreams Sunset
At a single glance, the Coach Dreams Sunset bottle evokes nature. First, as noted earlier, it has an elegant orange gradient, darker at its base and gradually lightening toward its top. In passing, this coloring evokes the softness of feminine skin, immediately becoming a true invitation to touch. In an equally natural register, its cap resembles a flower in full bloom. Yet, on the olfactory side, Coach Dreams Sunset is indeed a floral fragrance. It notably contains magnolia and sambac jasmine. As the house itself so aptly describes it, its lacquered ombré glass embodies the warm hues of the sky when the sun sets on the horizon.
The presence of the Coach house's emblematic codes
Finally, to complete this already very elegant ensemble, other characteristic elements of the Coach house appear on its visual. Did you know: before becoming a perfumer, the Coach house worked mainly with leather to create all sorts of leather goods. This is how it became known across the Atlantic. To recall its rich history as a leather goods maker, Coach attached a white leather strip at the neck of the bottle. A refined leather ring encircles the base of the cap and echoes Coach's long history in leather craftsmanship, explains Stuart Vevers, creative director of Coach. Likewise, the emblematic carriage, the house's logo, appears on the front. More specifically, this is a nod to the many horse-drawn carriages found in Central Park, an urban park located right next to Coach's historic address in New York.
