To revisit its icon, the house Azzaro called on perfumer Olivier Pescheux. Born in Paris, Olivier Pescheux headed toward chemistry studies before joining ISIPCA. Once graduated, Olivier Pescheux worked for Annick Goutal then for KAO, a Japanese fragrance company, before joining Givaudan in 1999. Because perfumery is for him an art, Olivier Pescheux explains that he creates a perfume the way one creates a musical score. When asked what his favorite raw materials are, Olivier Pescheux states that he loves patchouli, green notes, citrus, ylang-ylang, rose and so many others. He had the opportunity to visit various harvesting locations, the Comoros for ylang-ylang, Calabria and Sicily for citrus, Tunisia for orange blossom, Provence… Olivier Pescheux is behind great successes such as 1 Million by Paco Rabanne, Balmain Homme by Balmain and Legend by Montblanc.
Azzaro Homme Intense, sensuality at its peak
Olivier Pescheux thus chose to design his composition between sensuality and refinement. Azzaro pour Homme Intense takes flight on spicy and sweet notes, namely cinnamon from Laos. The word cinnamon comes from the Latin canna, meaning reed. Appearing in the 12th century in China, cinnamon was reserved for the wealthiest, as it was very expensive. It became widespread during the Renaissance. Today, cinnamon is highly prized in cooking, but it is also used for its medicinal properties. In perfumery, cinnamon essence is obtained through steam distillation of the tree's bark. Cinnamon releases spicy, sweet, vanilla-like tones. Then, the heart of Azzaro pour Homme Intense develops toward great virility and sensuality thanks to the presence of vetiver from Haiti. Originally from India, vetiver was later introduced into many tropical countries, such as Madagascar, Brazil or China. Vetiver is highly prized in perfumery, particularly within masculine compositions. Vetiver essence is obtained through steam distillation of its roots. Vetiver releases woody, earthy, smoky and very tenacious scents. Finally, the base comes to enhance the whole composition by bringing creaminess and sensuality thanks to the presence of tonka bean. The bottle takes up the main codes of its predecessor. Powerful and virile, it lets the intense golden color of its nectar show through.
