Wild Ocean

The most aquatic of Courrèges masculine fragrances. Between men and the marine world, it is a great love story that has now lasted for decades.

Courrèges's very maritime masculine fragrance

The great house of Courrèges is certainly one of the rare perfume houses to have lived through so many lives, as the first feminine fragrances born in the 1970s-80s enjoyed enormous success, then a quiet tribute, before returning to favor in the 2010s with the house's rebirth.

This rebirth of the house of Courrèges would be marked notably by the brand-new creation of masculine fragrances in 2018, then in 2019 with the eagerly awaited release of Wild Ocean.

Wild Ocean, the new breath of fresh, fragrant air for sporty men by Courrèges

André Courrèges contributed greatly, given his boldness, to the rise of a more inventive feminine fashion in the 1960s-70s. However, the history between Courrèges and men seems more complex, although it is also quite old, since it began in 1973 with the release of a fragrance, Courrèges Homme, paired with a menswear collection that met with rather modest success.

After giving the fragrances and fashion collections of the past a second life, the new owners who took over Courrèges in 2012 nonetheless chose to once again offer a menswear collection in 2014, along with two new fragrances to accompany it in 2018: Courrèges Homme and Courrèges Homme Sport. This time, with success finally at hand, Courrèges once again chose to offer men Wild Ocean, with its iodized accords paying tribute to the last creation of the emblematic founder André Courrèges, who had recently passed away — a yacht named White Ocean.

Thus Wild Ocean was composed to offer men a fragrance that is both very pure and iodized, while remaining particularly masculine through its overdosed animalic depths.

The pairing of an iodized note with animalic warmth for a contrasted and powerful Wild Ocean

Wild Ocean by Courrèges was composed on the same olfactory strengths that once defined the very fresh masculine fragrances of the 1990s, such as Aqua di Gio, Eau d'Issey or Cool Water by Davidoff. However, while Wild Ocean is clearly meant to be the heir to these great masculine fragrances, the construction of its olfactory notes is quite different, since Wild Ocean notably carries the great distinction of not pairing an aromatic note with the iodized note, which moreover gives it an incredible modernity.

Thus Wild Ocean prefers to play on the contrast between an opening iodized note and an overdose of ambroxan in the base notes, in order to offer a masculinity that marries opposites, asserting itself through gentle sensuality expressed as a warm sand heart. This warm sand heart thus serves as the close link between the marine freshness of the top notes and the intense warmth of the animalic depths of the base.

Wild Ocean thus offers the man of 2019 a completely new sporty strength that can only win him over through its surprising and thoroughly innovative contrasts.
Extreme depth, infinite movement. A fresh and salty eau de toilette built on a duo of enveloping accords: marine and warm sand. Courrèges for Wild Ocean.
